Only two teams remain in the Worlds 2026 Play-In Stage.
MVK Esports eliminated FURIA 3-1 in the lower bracket final on October 17, setting up a rematch against Karmine Corp for the final place in the League of Legends World Championship Swiss Stage.
Cloud9 is already out after losing 3-1 to FURIA, while Karmine Corp reached the final through the upper bracket without losing a series.
Karmine Corp vs MVK Esports is scheduled for October 18 at 11 AM PT – 2 PM ET – 18:00 UTC – 20:00 CEST. The winner moves on to the 16-team Swiss Stage in Allen, Texas.

Worlds 2026 Play-In results so far
The four-team Play-In began on October 15 at the Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles.
- Karmine Corp 3-2 Cloud9
- MVK Esports 3-0 FURIA
- Karmine Corp 3-0 MVK Esports
- FURIA 3-1 Cloud9
- MVK Esports 3-1 FURIA
That leaves Karmine Corp and MVK as the final two teams fighting for the single Swiss Stage place.
The structure is deliberately unforgiving. All Play-In matches are best-of-five, but only one of the four participating teams reaches the main 16-team stage.
MVK eliminates FURIA 3-1
MVK Esports reached the Play-In final by beating FURIA for the second time in the tournament.
The Vietnamese side had already swept FURIA 3-0 on opening day. After losing 0-3 to Karmine Corp in the upper bracket final, MVK dropped into the elimination side and faced FURIA again.
The rematch was closer, but the result was the same.
MVK controlled Game 1 and finished with a 21-8 kill lead. The team followed that with another strong performance in Game 2, winning with a 17-7 kill score to move one game from the final.
FURIA responded in Game 3. The Brazilian team flipped the series momentum and won with a 21-8 kill advantage of its own, keeping the run alive.
MVK then closed the series in Game 4. The Vietnamese side regained map control, built its lead through coordinated team fights and finished with another 21-8 kill score to complete the 3-1 victory.
The result eliminates FURIA before the Swiss Stage.
Cloud9 was the first team eliminated
Cloud9’s Worlds 2026 run ended one round earlier.
The North American third seed opened the tournament against Karmine Corp and came close to taking the series. Cloud9 won Game 1 decisively and later moved ahead 2-1, putting KC one loss from the lower bracket.
Karmine Corp recovered to win Games 4 and 5 and take the opening series 3-2.
That dropped Cloud9 into an elimination match against FURIA.
Cloud9 again won the opening game, but FURIA took control after that. The Brazilian team won three consecutive games to complete a 3-1 comeback and eliminate Cloud9 from Worlds.
North America still has Team Liquid and LYON directly qualified for Swiss, but Cloud9 will not join them in Allen.
Karmine Corp reaches the final unbeaten
Karmine Corp has taken the cleaner route through Play-Ins.
KC survived the five-game opener against Cloud9, then produced a much more convincing performance against MVK in the upper bracket final.
Karmine Corp swept MVK 3-0.
The European side controlled the series throughout, with its bot lane of Caliste and Busio among the strongest performers. The sweep moved KC directly into the final qualification series and gave the team a day away from elimination matches while MVK had to play FURIA.
That earlier 3-0 result now becomes the most important reference point for the final.
MVK has already seen what went wrong against KC. Karmine Corp has already proved it can shut MVK down across a best-of-five.
The difference is that the rematch has no safety net.
Karmine Corp vs MVK decides the last Swiss spot
The Play-In final is simple:
- Match – Karmine Corp vs MVK Esports
- Date – October 18, 2026
- Start – 11 AM PT
- Europe – 20:00 CEST
- Format – best-of-five
- Venue – Riot Games Arena, Los Angeles
- Stakes – winner qualifies for the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage
Karmine Corp enters after two series wins and a 6-2 combined game record.
MVK enters after playing one extra series. The team swept FURIA 3-0, lost 0-3 to KC and then beat FURIA 3-1 in the lower bracket final.
MVK therefore reaches the rematch with more recent stage time, but KC has the head-to-head advantage and the cleaner route.
What the winner gets in the Swiss draw
The winner becomes the 16th and final team in the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage.
As the Play-In qualifier, KC or MVK will enter the opening Swiss draw in Tier 4 alongside:
- CTBC Flying Oyster
- Invictus Gaming
- Dplus Kia
- Play-In winner
Tier 4 teams are drawn against Tier 1 teams in Round 1.
The Tier 1 pool is:
- Gen.G
- Anyone’s Legend
- Team Liquid Alienware
- G2 Esports
Same-region matchups are blocked in the first Swiss round.
That creates one notable difference depending on who advances.
If Karmine Corp wins, KC cannot draw fellow EMEA team G2 Esports in Round 1. Its opening opponent would therefore come from Gen.G, Anyone’s Legend or Team Liquid.
If MVK wins, there is no LCP team in Tier 1, so all four Tier 1 opponents would remain possible.
Frag covered the complete field and seeding structure in our League of Legends Worlds 2026 preview.
Swiss Stage begins October 23
After the Play-In final, Worlds takes a short break before moving from Los Angeles to Allen, Texas.

The opening round uses the four-tier draw system. Later rounds pair teams with matching records until eight teams remain.
Quarterfinals and semifinals will also be played in Allen before the tournament moves to Barclays Center in Brooklyn for the November 14 grand final.
