The 2026 LCS season reaches its final weekend on October 3-4 at Gas South Arena in Duluth, Georgia, with Team Liquid already locked into the grand final and Cloud9 facing LYON for the remaining spot.
All three teams have secured qualification for the 2026 League of Legends World Championship. The final weekend now decides the LCS title and the final order of North America’s three Worlds representatives.

Team Liquid reaches the final with a 3-1 win over Cloud9
Team Liquid secured the first grand-final place by beating Cloud9 3-1 on September 27.
That result continued a strong playoff run for Liquid, who had already swept FlyQuest 3-0 earlier in the bracket. Liquid now gets the advantage of watching the October 3 semifinal before facing its winner one day later.
The route matters in a best-of-five environment. Cloud9 and LYON will have to show more of their drafts and adaptations in the semifinal, while Team Liquid can prepare specifically for both possible opponents.
Liquid also enters the weekend as the only team that cannot finish below second place.
Cloud9 gets another route to the final
Cloud9’s 3-1 loss to Team Liquid did not end its season because of the modified double-elimination playoff format.
Instead, Cloud9 drops into the final semifinal against LYON on October 3. The winner advances directly into the championship match against Liquid.
Cloud9 therefore has a chance to turn the September 27 defeat into a rematch one week later. To do that, it first has to get through a LYON side that has survived the lower-bracket path.
LYON survives the elimination bracket
LYON reached championship weekend by beating Shopify Rebellion 3-1 on September 26.
Shopify Rebellion had entered that series after eliminating FlyQuest 3-2 the previous day, but LYON stopped the run and secured a top-three finish.
That result also confirmed LYON’s place at Worlds 2026.
The October 3 series against Cloud9 is now a direct battle for the final. It is also the last chance for either team to improve its domestic finish before the international season begins.

With Team Liquid already in the final and Cloud9 and LYON guaranteed to finish in the top three, all three North American Worlds representatives are now known.

Championship weekend therefore shifts the focus from qualification pressure to the LCS trophy and final regional placement.
October 3: Cloud9 vs LYON
Cloud9 vs LYON is the only semifinal remaining.
Cloud9 enters from the upper side of the bracket after losing to Team Liquid. LYON arrives from the elimination side after beating Shopify Rebellion.
Because the entire LCS playoff bracket uses best-of-five series, the matchup should reward draft depth and in-series adaptation more than the regular-season best-of-three format.
The winner advances immediately to face Team Liquid in the grand final.
October 4: Team Liquid vs Cloud9 or LYON
Team Liquid will face the semifinal winner in the final match of the 2026 LCS season.
Liquid’s 3-1 victory over Cloud9 gives the team recent experience against one possible opponent. A LYON win on October 3 would create a different matchup and force Liquid to prepare for a team coming directly out of an elimination series.
Either way, the final will decide the 2026 LCS champion before the three qualified teams turn their attention toward Worlds.
What to watch during LCS Championship Weekend
Three things stand out going into Duluth.
First, Team Liquid has the cleanest preparation path. It is already in the final and can study the Cloud9-LYON semifinal without revealing another series of its own.
Second, Cloud9 has an immediate chance to recover from the 3-1 defeat to Liquid. If Cloud9 beats LYON, the championship becomes a direct rematch.
Third, LYON has already survived one elimination series to reach the final weekend. A win over Cloud9 would complete a lower-bracket run into the title match.
