All four Chinese teams are out of VALORANT Champions Shanghai 2026 before the playoffs.
The home-region field was cut in half on October 1 when Team Liquid eliminated TYLOO and Nongshim RedForce knocked out Xi Lai Gaming. One day later, Global Esports swept EDward Gaming and T1 beat JD Gaming to remove the final two VCT China teams from the tournament.
That leaves four playoff places still open. 100 Thieves, Team Vitality, Paper Rex and NRG are already through, while the remaining spots will be decided by four final group-stage series.

China out of Champions Shanghai before the playoffs
Champions Shanghai started with four VCT China representatives:
- TYLOO – VCT China Stage 2 winner
- JD Gaming – VCT China Stage 2 runner-up
- EDward Gaming – qualified through Championship Points
- Xi Lai Gaming – qualified through Championship Points
None reached the eight-team playoff bracket.
TYLOO and Xi Lai Gaming were eliminated on October 1. EDward Gaming and JD Gaming followed on October 2, meaning the host region will have no team in the knockout stage when the playoffs begin on October 7.
The result is especially notable for EDward Gaming, which entered Shanghai with world championship history after winning VALORANT Champions 2024.
Global Esports sweeps EDward Gaming 2-0
Global Esports stayed alive in Group B with a convincing 2-0 win over EDward Gaming.
GE won Summit 13-5 and then closed Sunset 13-6. The result ended EDG’s tournament after back-to-back 0-2 losses – first against LOUD and then against Global Esports.
Global Esports now advances to the Group B decider against LOUD.
That creates a rematch path of sorts within the group: LOUD reached the winner match by beating EDG, while GE was sent to the lower side after a close 1-2 opening loss against Team Vitality.
The winner of LOUD vs Global Esports takes the second Group B playoff place alongside Vitality.
T1 beats JD Gaming 2-1
T1 survived a three-map elimination series against JD Gaming in Group A.
T1 opened with a 13-11 win on Lotus, but JD Gaming responded emphatically on Abyss with a 13-3 victory.
The series then moved to Haven, where T1 recovered and closed the decider 13-5 for a 2-1 series win.
JD Gaming leaves Champions Shanghai after two group-stage losses. T1 moves on to face FUT Esports in the Group A decider.
100 Thieves has already secured the first Group A playoff place after beating both T1 and FUT without dropping a map.
Team Liquid and Nongshim ended the first two China runs
The home-region eliminations began on October 1.
Team Liquid beat TYLOO 2-1 in Group C. Liquid took Split 13-8, TYLOO answered with a 13-7 win on Summit, and Liquid dominated the deciding Lotus 13-2.
That result moved Team Liquid into the Group C decider against G2 Esports.
Nongshim RedForce then eliminated Xi Lai Gaming 2-0 in Group D. Both maps were close, but Nongshim won Summit 13-11 and Sunset 13-11.
Nongshim now faces Karmine Corp for the second Group D playoff place.
Champions Shanghai playoff teams so far
Four teams are already qualified:
- Group A – 100 Thieves
- Group B – Team Vitality
- Group C – Paper Rex
- Group D – NRG
The first four qualifiers all advanced through the winner side of their groups.
The full playoff field will contain eight teams, so every remaining place now comes down to one best-of-three decider.
For the earlier qualification results, see Frag’s Champions Shanghai playoff update.
Four final playoff deciders remain
The remaining group-stage matchups are:
- Group C – G2 Esports vs Team Liquid
- Group D – Karmine Corp vs Nongshim RedForce
- Group B – LOUD vs Global Esports
- Group A – FUT Esports vs T1
Each series has the same stakes – the winner reaches the playoffs and the loser is eliminated.
The Group C and Group D deciders are scheduled for October 3, followed by the Group B and Group A deciders on October 4.
After that, the eight-team double-elimination playoff bracket begins on October 7.
What the results change in Shanghai
The biggest change is regional representation.
Champions Shanghai began with four teams from each of VCT Americas, EMEA, Pacific and China. With every Chinese team now eliminated, the playoff bracket will be made up entirely of teams from the other three international leagues.
With China out, Americas already has two playoff teams in 100 Thieves and NRG, while EMEA has Team Vitality and Pacific has Paper Rex. The remaining deciders can add G2 Esports or LOUD for Americas, FUT Esports, Team Liquid or Karmine Corp for EMEA, and T1, Global Esports or Nongshim RedForce for Pacific.
The four confirmed playoff teams already include two Americas representatives – 100 Thieves and NRG – one EMEA team in Team Vitality, and one Pacific team in Paper Rex.
The final four group matches will set the regional balance before the bracket draw.
