The first day of The International 2026 playoffs is complete, and the upper bracket has already produced a few major turns.
Team Spirit and Team Yandex both advanced with 2-0 sweeps, while TEAM VISION and Nigma Galaxy needed all three maps. The biggest result came at the end of the day, when Nigma beat defending champions Team Falcons 2-1 and sent them into the lower bracket.

Yandex make a statement against Liquid
Team Yandex entered the playoffs after a difficult group stage, but there was little sign of that struggle against Team Liquid. Yandex swept the series 2-0 and moved directly into the upper-bracket semifinals.
It is one of the clearest statements from the opening day. Liquid came into the Main Event as one of the stronger teams from the group stage, but now have no margin for error in the lower bracket.
Nigma keep the dark-horse run alive
Nigma Galaxy have been one of the surprises of TI 2026, and that run continued against the defending champions. Falcons took the opening map, but Nigma answered in game two and closed the deciding map to win the series 2-1.
The result sends Nigma into the upper-bracket semifinals and pushes Falcons into an immediate elimination match. For a Nigma side that already beat Team Spirit during the group stage, this is another result that makes their run increasingly difficult to dismiss.
Spirit and VISION move on
Team Spirit opened the playoff stage with the cleanest possible result – a 2-0 win over Iron Wing. TEAM VISION followed with a harder 2-1 victory over BoomBoys, keeping their strong tournament run intact.
Those results set up an upper-bracket semifinal between Spirit and VISION, while Team Yandex will meet Nigma Galaxy on the other side of the bracket.
What comes next at The International 2026
The tournament now splits into survival matches and semifinal battles. Iron Wing, BoomBoys, Team Liquid and Team Falcons drop into the lower bracket, where another loss means elimination.
Meanwhile, Team Spirit, TEAM VISION, Team Yandex and Nigma Galaxy remain one series away from the upper-bracket final.
