FISSURE Playground 3 Day 2: FURIA and BETBOOM Reach Playoffs as FaZe, MongolZ Exit

FISSURE Playground 3 has reached the end of Day 2 in Suzhou, with the playoff picture taking shape and four notable teams already eliminated.

FURIA and BETBOOM secure playoff spots

FURIA closed Day 2 with a 2-0 win over PARIVISION in the Group B upper bracket semifinal. The Brazilian side demolished PARIVISION 13-2 on Ancient before surviving a much tighter Inferno, 13-11.

KSCERATO led the series with a 1.60 rating, while molodoy finished close behind on 1.51. The result puts FURIA into the playoffs and sets up a Group B seeding match against Legacy on September 10.

BETBOOM also booked their playoff place with a 2-0 victory over Astralis. The opening map went all the way to overtime before BETBOOM took Ancient 16-14, then they closed Anubis 13-8.

That sends Astralis into the lower bracket, while BETBOOM move on to face MIBR for seeding. Both teams are already guaranteed a place in the knockout stage.

MIBR and Legacy were first through

MIBR and Legacy became the first two teams to secure playoff spots earlier in the day.

MIBR swept 9z 2-0 in Group A, winning Mirage 13-6 and Nuke 13-7. nqz led the series with a 1.31 rating, while insani added a 1.25 as MIBR followed up their opening win over The MongolZ.

Legacy were even more dominant against Alliance. They won Inferno 13-4 and Dust2 13-6 to complete a 2-0 sweep, with latto, dumau and try all posting ratings above 1.40.

The four teams currently through are:

  • MIBR
  • BETBOOM
  • Legacy
  • FURIA

Two more playoff places will be decided through the lower brackets on September 10.

FaZe suffer shock last-place exit

FaZe’s tournament ended after a 2-1 loss to magic, leaving them in joint-last place after back-to-back upset defeats.

magic won Ancient 16-14 in overtime before FaZe answered 13-10 on Dust2. The deciding Cache also went beyond regulation, with magic eventually closing it 19-16.

Twistzz still finished with 72 kills and a 1.26 rating across the three maps, but FaZe could not convert enough of the close rounds to stay alive.

The loss followed FaZe’s 0-2 defeat to Alliance on the opening day. You can see the full matchup and team form on the magic vs FaZe match page on Frag.

The MongolZ eliminated by 5star

The MongolZ were responsible for the other major upset of the day, losing 0-2 to fellow Mongolian team 5star.

5star took Inferno 13-9 and Nuke 13-11, eliminating The MongolZ in joint-last place. rate was the standout player for 5star with 41 kills and a 1.68 rating across the two maps.

The result is particularly notable because The MongolZ had been Mongolia’s clear leading international side for years. They entered FISSURE Playground 3 with a changed lineup and were unable to recover after losing their opener to MIBR.

BIG and GamerLegion are also out

Two more teams were eliminated later on Day 2.

G2 recovered from their opening defeat to Astralis by beating BIG 2-1. BIG won Cache 13-8, but G2 answered on Mirage 13-7 and Ancient 13-10 to complete the comeback.

TYLOO then eliminated GamerLegion 2-0, winning Ancient 13-7 and Mirage 13-6. The result keeps the Chinese side alive in front of the home crowd while GamerLegion leave Suzhou without a series win.
